Why Wouldn’t You WANT to Work with a Career Coach?
Hi, I’m Teena Evert CEO and Founder of Claim the Lead. To claim the lead is to get into the driver’s seat of your life and stop being a passive passenger driven around to places you don’t want to go. Claiming the lead is about empowering yourself to choose where you want to go and how you want to get there.
I coach mid-career professionals- affectionately referred to as the thirty-somethings-who feel stuck, undervalued, underutilized, bored, burned out, and dread going to work on Monday mornings!
I help them get their careers on track in 90 days or less without the overwhelm so they can either find a job they love or love the job they already have – and enjoy meaningful work, happier relationships, and better work-life balance.
There are times you definitely want to hire a career coach and reasons you don’t need to.
Here are 3 of the reasons:
- You Prefer Others to Decide Your Destiny.
Getting passed over for exciting projects or continually asked to do work you don’t enjoy – This is what happens when you are not clear – every day – about your strengths and what you need and want.
2. You Would Rather Sell Yourself Short Then Attract Big Opportunities. Continually selling yourself short of earning a promotion, landing a job, or growing your career – leaves you exhausted. When you are clear about who you are, what you love to do, and why you love what you do – you attract your dream opportunities.
3. You Want to Remain Unseen
Being paid an average wage and not living up to your full potential will keep you invisible. When you are NOT clear about how you distinctly add value, you remain unseen and undervalued.
If you want to decide your destiny, attract better and bigger opportunities, and increase your income potential then hire a career coach.
Working with a career coach will help you to:
- Get clear about your strengths and what sets you apart from your competition.
- Know your why and what it is you love to do.
- Own your value and increase your earning potential.
There’s that moment you realize that you can’t keep doing the work you’re doing. You feel more drained than energized. You are up at night with anxious thoughts, tired during the day due to lack of sleep, and you know you can’t continue down the path you are on.
I get it! I have had so many of those moments, particularly mid-career and in my 30s.
In your 30-something years, it’s intensified since you are also dealing with the societal pressures to meet certain milestones, get married, start a family, buy a home, or recover from a divorce, get promoted, find happiness, settle down, and the list goes on!
In my 30s, I broke up with my fiance, packed up my car, and drove 3,000 miles with my dog as a co-pilot to pursue an educational path that would lead to a new career. I was physically assaulted, intimidated, and manipulated by people in power. I was diagnosed with cancer, lost my dog to cancer, suffered a miscarriage, earned a Master’s degree, became a home-owner, started my own business and bought a road bike to manage my stress because yoga wasn’t enough.
I have changed jobs countless times and it would make a mess on a resume. I have also changed my career a dozen times since graduating from college because I was always searching for something better, that dream job that matches my skills and the person I wanted to become. I was ready for more. I wanted to take my career to the next level, but I wasn’t entirely sure how it would unfold.
I essentially got career-focused and created a process for myself that, over the years, has helped me attract opportunities that match my requirements, interests, and deeper purpose for work.
As a career transition and life coach, I get to help people transform their lives by honing their purpose, preparing, positioning, and promoting who they are and what they do to find the job they love or love the job they already have.
I coach you on all traditional things career coaches do, such as assessments, resumes, LinkedIn networking, and interviewing. And I bring my unique counseling background and rich life experiences to our coaching relationship to help you develop into the persona you want to be and meet the milestones you desire in your life and career.
I help you learn how to tell your career story differently than you have ever told it before so that it gets attention from the right people because they are interested in who you are and what you do when you’re networking or when you’re interviewing.
I help you focus on who you are as a professional and the personal stuff, too – relationships, finances, and your overall health and wellbeing.
