When someone asks you what YOU NEED, can you answer this truthfully?

What do you do for self-care...GOOD self-care?⎯Activities that boost your vitality. 

Natural helpers have BIG hearts that have limits to how much they can give. 💗

Their hearts can get very fatigued
⎯Compassion Fatigue!

Compassion fatigue is a type of burnout that specifically affects individuals in helping professions who work with traumatized or suffering individuals. 

It is characterized by a gradual decrease in compassion and empathy for others and an increase in feelings of emotional detachment, cynicism, and fatigue. 

If you think you are struggling with this type of burnout, I highly recommend you reach out for help. 

Reaching out for help is NOT a weakness. It's a STRENGTH!

Be strong for yourself. Consider slowing down enough to reflect on what it is YOU TRULY NEED to fill your cup today. 💘

When we stay true to our personal needs and values and wrap a boundary around them, we boost our vitality 💗 

We must do this to protect and nurture ourselves as a whole person.

Abuse is a term you will have to define for yourself based on the scenario, but if the person you are in a relationship with is repetitively abusive, this will cost you, your humanity, and your soul over time. 

If that is the place you are in now, find supportive professionals and friends you can trust with your confidence while you develop the courage to end or leave the relationship.

It means that we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they're on without judging them, making them feel inadequate, trying to fix them, or trying to impact the outcome. When we hold space for other people, we open our hearts, offer unconditional support, and let go of judgment and control. 💖

When it comes to healing from a toxic relationship, people think it’s about blaming and villainizing the other person, but it’s really about understanding your role in the power dynamic, so you can let go of that destructive behavior and create new habits that serve you better.

Ultimately, we teach people how to treat us. (It may be hard to hear, but…) If you’re being treated poorly, it’s because you have allowed that behavior to continue. It’s time to reclaim your power. However, you must believe in your own worth and value so that you will no longer settle for less than you know you deserve.

In today’s video, I’m going to help you understand a very common phenomenon that many helpers experience. It’s called Empathic Distress, and the identification and awareness of this concept are what I believe to be the very first step toward healing for the helper.

Creating an empathic shield with others allows you to keep just enough distance to feel into another while staying focused. 

Without an empathic shield, we risk fusing with another and becoming overwhelmed with no empathy. 

With no empathy, there is no compassion. The empathic shield helps you stay connected and avoid empathic distress, often called compassion fatigue.
